Verification methodology
Every one of our 24 964 listings across 51 states is built on credentials cross-referenced against the authorities that govern the work. This page documents exactly how we verify, what a badge does and does not mean, how we handle corrections, and how often we re-verify.
How listings are verified
Four steps, from authority source to published listing.
Collect from authority sources
Listings begin with public certification registries and state licensing boards — not self-submitted marketing. This is the verified foundation every listing is built on.
Cross-reference each credential
Every claimed certification is matched against the authority that issues it. Anything we cannot confirm is not shown as verified.
Structure and publish
Confirmed facts — credentials, services, service areas — are published as structured data. Unconfirmed fields are left blank, never guessed.
Re-verify on cadence
Listings are re-checked at least every 12 months, and immediately when an authority registry updates or an error is reported.
The authorities we check against
Each niche is verified against the body that issues its credentials. We do not invent our own rating — we report what the recognized authority recognizes.
| Safety niche | Primary authority | Recognized credentials |
|---|---|---|
| Radon Mitigation | NRPP / AARST | NRPP Certified, NRSB Certified, AARST Member |
| Mold Remediation | IICRC | IICRC Certified, IICRC AMRT, State-Licensed Mold Assessor |
| Asbestos & Lead Abatement | EPA AHERA / RRP | EPA AHERA Accredited, EPA RRP Certified, State-Licensed Abatement |
| Well Water Testing | EPA-Certified Labs | EPA-Certified Lab, State Health Dept Certified, NELAP Accredited |
| Foundation Repair | State Contractor Boards | Licensed Structural Engineer, State Contractor License, Foundation Repair Certified |
Authorities referenced: NRPP / AARST • IICRC • EPA AHERA / RRP • EPA-Certified Labs • State Contractor Boards, plus state health departments and contractor licensing boards.
What a verification badge means
A badge is a fact, not a recommendation. A verification badge confirms only that a specific credential was matched against the issuing authority's public registry as of the displayed verification date. It is not an endorsement, recommendation, guarantee of work quality, or warranty of any kind.
Credentials and licenses can lapse, be suspended, or change between our verification dates. Before hiring, homeowners should independently confirm a provider's current license and certification status with the relevant authority and exercise their own due diligence.
Indemnification & limitation of liability
HomeAllClear provides directory and verification information on an "as is" basis and is not a party to any agreement between a homeowner and a provider. We do not perform, supervise, or warrant any provider's work. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HomeAllClear is not liable for the acts, omissions, or work of any listed provider, and you agree to hold HomeAllClear harmless from claims arising out of your engagement of a provider found through this directory. Your use of the directory is governed by our Terms of Service.
Corrections & re-verification
Correction policy
Spotted an error? Use the correction link on any listing or contact our corrections inbox. We review reports within 5 business days, correct confirmed errors promptly, and re-verify the affected credential against its source. Providers can also claim their listing to submit updates for verification.
Re-verification cadence
Verified credentials are re-checked at least every 12 months, and immediately when an authority's registry is updated or an error is reported. Each listing reflects its most recent verification date so you always know how current the data is.
Methodology FAQ
Does a verification badge mean HomeAllClear endorses the provider?
No. A badge confirms only that a specific credential was matched against the issuing authority's public registry at the verification date. It is not an endorsement, recommendation, guarantee of work quality, or warranty. Homeowners must do their own due diligence and confirm current licensing directly.
How do you verify a provider's certifications?
We cross-reference each claimed credential against the authority that issues it — NRPP and AARST for radon, IICRC for mold, EPA AHERA and RRP for asbestos and lead, EPA-certified labs for well water, and state contractor boards for foundation work. Credentials we cannot confirm are not displayed as verified.
How often are listings re-verified?
Verified credentials are re-checked at least every 12 months, and sooner when an authority's registry updates or when an error is reported. Each listing reflects the most recent verification date.
How do I report an error in a listing?
Use the correction link on any listing or email our corrections inbox. We aim to review reports within 5 business days, correct confirmed errors promptly, and re-verify the affected credential.
Why is some information missing from a listing?
When we cannot confirm a fact against a source, we leave it blank rather than guess. Missing data is a deliberate accuracy choice, not an oversight.
